Charlie

First up is Charlie! Charlie is our current OG (original) and let’s get one thing out of the way first of all… Charlie is in fact a female! Charlie’s name was already chosen before we found her as I had always wanted a brown bun called Charlie ( I honestly don’t know why) so when we found her we didn’t want to change the name and we had already fallen in love with her and the feeling was mutual! Unfortunately we are not 100% sure what breed Charlie is but we think there is so Lop in there somewhere but we always seem to see her lookalikes in the pet store so we tell her she’s common 😉.
Charlie has always been a soppy, loving, cuddly bear, which leads me on to one of her many nick names – Charlie Bear! She can also be referred to as:
- Chaz
- Chazza Roo
- Miss Charlotte
- The Bear
- Beryl
- Baby girl
- Baby G
- Fluffball
Charlie’s favourite foods are:
- Curly kale 🥬
- Carrot🥕
- Green Beans
- Oxbow digestive support tablets (we will talk more about that later!)
Charlie really is the lady of the manor and rules the roost. If she wants cuddles, she gets cuddles. If she wants freedom (time in the garden) she’s out her cage like a rocket! But she’s also very chilled and laid back and will put herself back in her cage when she has had enough.
Me and Charlie have a close bond and I try to spend quite a lot of one on one time with her, especially as she was the only furry we had for a long time so we didn’t want her to get lonely. She loves attention and human interaction and we will quite happily lay on the living room floor together and watch tv.
We have had a few close calls with Charlie as she has suffered with GI stasis ( more about that later!) twice but luckily we are experienced enough now (seven rabbits later!) to know the signs and symptoms so can usually treat it quickly. The last time was approximately a year ago and since then we have completely changed her diet and so far so good! We cut her nugget intake right back and increased her hay consumption. We also limit sugary treat to almost once a month and this includes carrots which are her ultimate favourite!
Freddie

So, we have had Freddie since October 2019 however when we collected him, we thought he was a she… At that time we didnt have a name for her so after a few hours and an instagram poll we decided to call her Florence (Flossy for short!) Flossy settled in extremely fast, straight out of the carrier in fact! She interacted with us and wasnt scared of anything! She was housed seperately to Charlie as she was too young and small compared to Charlie to start the bonding process. Charlie also took a bit of a disliking to Flossy at first as we had a small biting incident!
It then came time for Flossy’s first lot of injections, so we took her to the vets where she was one of the best we have had at taking her injections however we had a bit of a shock when the Vet turned around and said we had a nice little boy and proceeded to show us exactly what he meant! I won’t go in to details!
So from then on Flossy became Freddie! Also to be known as…
- Fred
- Fred – Bomb
- Fred – Butt/bum
- Fred- Bot
- Freddie-Bear
- Fred-Bear (Threadbare)
- Baby Boy
- The Fredster
Freddie’s favourite foods are difficult as he would much prefer a big bowl of nuggets/pellets over any thing else! Occasionally he will have carrot, kale or Green Beans but as her is still young ( 7 months – 27/02/2019) he is only just starting to be allowed fruits and veg. He does however have one favourite but is only given a small bit as a treat…. Banana! He can hear you open a banana from a mile away!
Freddie is a very hyperactive young bunny who loves to explore but also loves to sleep! Next steps are to bond him with Charlie and have them be Husbun and Wife!
